বি এল স্কুলের শিক্ষক বা একজন ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের তরুণ গ্র্যাজুয়েট—এই সব পরিচয়ের ঊর্ধ্বে আবদুল বাছেতের সবচেয়ে বড় পরিচয় সম্ভবত তাঁর হাসি। সারাদিন স্কুলে পড়ানো বা যেকোনো কাজে মানুষের সাহায্যে সবার আগে ছুটে যাওয়ার পরও এক নির্ভার হাসি দেওয়ার নামই আবদুল বাসেত। শান্ত, স্নিগ্ধ, মায়াবী একজন মানুষ, অথচ মাথায় তার কত ভার, কত চিন্তা আর কত পরিকল্পনা।
মৃত্যুই শেষ নয়। মাটির পোকা মগজ খায়, তবে যা মাটিতে মিশে না—আমি সেই স্বপ্নের কথা মনে করিয়ে দিতে চাই, যার শেষ নেই। এই স্বপ্নেই আবদুল বাছেত বেঁচে আছেন; এই স্বপ্ন পড়তে কলম, খাতা কিংবা ব্ল্যাকবোর্ড লাগে না।
"স্বপ্ন হবো বলে এই স্বপ্নের মাঝেই বাঁচতে চাই…"

AB Sir Student of the Year Award
AB Sir Student of the Year Award is an annual competition centered on critical thinking and innovative ideas, dedicated to identifying and nurturing the latent talents of students in Sirajganj town and its surrounding areas. The program gives young minds a stage to present their ideas, values, and sense of responsibility through written submissions based on carefully chosen prompts.
This initiative is a tribute to the welfare-driven vision of Late Md. Abdul Baset, former Assistant Teacher of BL Govt. High School (Bonowary Lal Govt. High School). His lifelong dedication to student development and community upliftment continues to inspire generations.
Following the footsteps of Mr. Abdul Baset's visionary ideals and his commitment to social welfare, the mission of this award program is to cultivate a generation of thoughtful, responsible, and innovative individuals.
Ultimately, the AB Sir Student of the Year Award aspires to empower young talents to contribute toward building a better society and, in a broader sense, a more enlightened nation.
